Mariaro relaxed. This amulet... It was given to me, by a friend... I barely have friends... I never come across another dragon, and every human I see I usually scare away... Or eat... He looked at the ground, and closed his eyes. When he heard something pounding on the roof of the cave, he looked at the entrance of the cave. It was staring to rain. He watched, and soon it was pouring. He could see lightning, hear thunder, and see rain. A storm... He whispered. A big one... He looked back at Ryvn. What now? He waited for an answer. Any answer. He hadnt expected it to become a storm. So unusual. The weather was usually good. Sharma most be sad... He joked.

Ryvn sat at the edge of the cave, water splattering next to him. His face was somber. When the dragon asked him what now, Ryvn shrugged, glancing back over his shoulder. "I don't know." He whispered softly, turning to the dragon who had so generously invited him into his home. "Let the rain come, I hold no fear for it." Ryvn said before moving back a bit from the entrance so that his belongings wouldn't be soaked through. "You have been generous, Mariaro, and I do not wish to be a burden. If there is anything I can do to help?" He inquired softly, sitting down.

Mariaro frowned. The only thing you can do is let me learn about you, let me trust you, and become my friend.. He said. I have no friends, you are the only one that has come closest so far. I have met not one wild dragon. Its weird really, you can usually find them if you find caves. But now, I have seen many abandoned caves. Probably because of the Reamies. But we are dragons, we can handle a bunch of Reamies, cant we!? He said angrily. Riders! Them pathetic riders! Them dragons, that become tame to them humans! They are weaklings, they are desperate for help! I, on the other hand, need no help.He crawled over to a corner. His old, lonely corner. You need nothing else.. We have no final defense. Its either fight or die. He started to draw lines in the dirt with his claws. When he stopped, he slashed the dirt, and blowed on it, blowing the dust away. Some smoke came out of his nose. You understand, dont you? Do you understand what situation we are in? We dragons, we are strong, and nothing can defeat us. We arent made to protect humans and your kind. You people are weaklings, desperate for help from us dragons. I cant believe dragons will even agree to protecting your worthless lives! He became angrier, not caring Ryvn was there.

Ryvn drew in a deep breath, unsheathed his dagger and began drawing in the dirt as well, drawing arcane symbols. "You are right, to an extent, but everything has a flaw, its nature after all... I too once questioned whether life was worth living or not, when I found out what my parents had done to me... You see, I am a lot like you. I was abandoned at birth, but unlike you a kind soul took me in and raised me to be strong so I could fend for myself. he taught me to be resilient in the heat of the forge, where I learned my trade. Everything has its weakness, its flaw... some kind of chink in the armor. For humans and other hominid races, its the lack of a natural defense. We are born soft, and we die easilly, but where we are easilly killed, we have ingenuity, the ability to create or destroy as we see fit." Rvyn took a break, clearing the long etching of runes before looking somberly up at Mariaro before sheathing his dagger.
"Dragons, too, have their weaknesses, Mariaro. Sure, dragons can fly, breathe fire, and have tails, claws and a natural armor... but you're weakest at the oldest and youngest ages. In adolescence, the scales are soft, and in extremely old age, mental weariness sets in. It happens to all, dragons not an exception. You have also just shown the greatest weakness anyone can show: pride. The man who had taken me in, Koth was his name, taught me a long list of recitations as a child so I could avoid it." Ryvn drew a deep breath before continuing. "Do not discount the foeman who is braving your sight... that was one of the recitations. Humility is a strength, for if you know your own weaknesses, you can defend them against an enemy who would wish to exploit them."

I have no weakness! He said angrily. Getting dragons to fend for humans...Its not right...Havent you ever thought that maybe we dragons...Would like to be free? He looked at the ground. Free...To do anything...To live on their own, and not worry about Saving pathetic lives... He said closing his eyes. Every dragon deserves to be free...Not captured and tamed... He then raised his voice. Unike the others, I will not be tamed! I will kill anyone who trys to tame me! I will refuse to go to that stupid Dragorna, and live there alongside a human! Why should I!?

Ryvn chuckled, soon laughing before he calmed down and became sober again. "You really are naive for a dragon. I always thought dragons to be wise creatures. Pride, no matter for whom, is a weakness. Its a weakness for you as it is for me. Pride lets your guard down, makes you complacent, and eventually leads enemies to kill you. Do not become complacent in yourself..."
Ryvn paused for a while, watching the storm. "I am curious, Mariaro, do you have any details on why our lives are pathetic?" He inquired, left arm running across his metal right arm. "Hominids should be able to defend dragons, and to be able to accomodate for dragons as much as dragons do for us, its a shame we have failed to do so."

I may be naive, but I am strong. Unlike a human! He said. He lookes outside, seeing the rain pouring down, hearing the thunder, and seeing the lightning. At least we know we are safe from Reamies. They dont usually like to be in the storms, do they? Then he remembered, that Reamies loved storms. They liked to frighten people that was in storms. They liked to sneak up on people, making sure they could not be heard, letting the thunder cover their sound. Guess we are gonna be stuck here for a while.. he said.

Ryvn's face was tense. "We are not safe. We never will be. This world is full of evil things, waiting to sink their fangs into inattentive prey." Ryvn said softly, his sentence being punctuated by a bolt of lightning and a clap of thunder. "We will be, oh well... not like I have anywhere to go anyways." Ryvn responded, closing his eyes. "Let me tell you something. Were we hominids lack in physical strength, we make up for our tenacity, our perseverance, our ingenuity, and our faith in our young. These are the key tools for our continued survival. However, now, we are threatened by something stronger than dragons, more cunning than we are, and much, much more wicked. The only way we can survive is by joining forces with dragons, for even dragons will have to deal with this evil eventually."

But if we dragons, use our powers right, we can overcome them, without humans help. Like I said, them dragons, that have been tamed and now fight alongside humans, are desperate. They have no idea what power they have, and waste their lives by helping pathetic human. If only they knew what it was like to be free...Then they would understand that the humans are just a waste. He beat his fist on the ground, hard. He looked out at the entrance and frowned. He got up, and went over to the entrance. He squinted his eyes. Pretty sure I sa- He couldnt finish because a large Reamie tackled into his chest.

Ryvn lept to his feet and onto the Reamie's back, metal arm wrapped tight around the beast's neck as he began squeezing as hard as he could, jerking twice to break the beast's neck and crush its windpipe. It didn't take much, but the dragon underneath the Reamie was in grave danger if the beast managed to sink its claws or fangs into the softer scales at the joints. Ryvn ripped the weakened beast off of the dragon, his metal right hand clasped around the Reamie's neck as he slammed it into the cave floor. The Reamie squirmed as Ryvn knocked it over and drove his now unsheathed longsword into its neck. Ryvn sighed, adrenaline coursing through his veins as another bolt of lightning illuminated the cave.
It was silent for fifteen minutes before Ryvn spoke again. His voice was soft and had a deeply caring undertone to it. "Mariaro.... are you alright?"

Yea..Just a few scratches.. He said, getting up. He looked down, and saw his chest was bleeding. Ugh.. He groaned. I have nothing to heal it with. I should have gone out and find some things for something like this.. He crawled over to Ryvn, and layed down beside him. Unless you got something to heal this with, I wont be doing much for a while.. He closed his eyes for a few minutes, but what seemed like hours. He let out his breath, smoke coming out of his nose. Like you said..We are never safe.. He looked at the ground. I miss my friend..I havent seen her in..Forever..

Ryvn looked at Mariaro's chest, grimacing as he saw the cut. "I don't have much, but I do have a medical kit. I can hold the blood back and numb the wound while I sew it back up... shouldn't take long." He responded. Ryvn walked over and pulled out one of his larger pouches. He opened it up and grabbed a few smaller bags full of mixes of different herbs. "I'm sure your friend is fine, Mariaro. Would you like me to stop the bleeding?" He asked, holding up one of the bags which bore a tan slightly gritty powder. "This is made of a root from the far north mixed with a few other dried herbs for healing. It will stop the bleeding, if you let me." Ryvn said softly, looking up at the dragon before him.

Yes, that would be lovely. he said. Then he hesitated. My friend was not a dragon, nor human.. Like I said, i have never met another dragon, and every human I find I either scare of kill. My mother and father left me, abandonend me to die. But I promised that I would not die. I would keep going, without them.. I need no one! He yelled angrily. Then his voice softened. I do know, one thing, a weakness for us all. Without friends, we are weak. We act powerful. But actually, we are lonely, and desperate for a friend on the inside.. He sighed.

Ryvn sighed as he began working on patching the wound up, listening to Mariaro. "I fully understand, Mariaro... There wasn't a God that could save me once my parents abandoned me, but one person made the difference." he said as he finished closing the wound. Flesh sewn back together so as to eliminate infection and disease. "You don't have to be lonely anymore, Mariaro..." Ryvn spoke softly, watching the dragon before cleaning up his belongings.

My friend...Was a hawk. A white hawk, to be exact. Her name...Was Luna... He layed down and closed his eyes. Give me a minute to rest... He whispered. I cant think... Then, he fell into blackness.
When he woke up, he saw a human, and immdeiatly went into defense mood. It took him a minute to register, why a human was here. Ryvn. Sorry, you kind of surprised me. I'm not used to having a human at my cave. He then noticed, that his mouth was extremely dry. Is the storm still going on? He asked. He looked out at the entrance, and saw it was gone to a drizzle. I'll be right back. He said, going outside. He looked up at the sky, and opened his mouth, letting the rain enter his mouth.
